Customers may change their default payment method via the app. However, you may be able to assist a customer with changing their default payment method from one existing payment method to another via Stripe.
Typically, we discourage entering a new credit card for a customer over the phone for PCI compliance reasons. If a customer wants to add a new card, we recommend that you guide the customer to the appropriate place in their app or that they visit a wash location to get assistance from an on-site attendant.
Note: we allow customers with multiple subscriptions to select different default payment methods for each subscription through the app. Modifying the Stripe setting, as shown below, will set all subscriptions to default to the card selected in this process.
To change the customer's default payment method in Stripe, follow these steps:
Log in to Stripe and search for the customer by their email address in the search bar.
Click on the customer's name to navigate to the customer's Stripe profile.
On the Overview tab, scroll to the Payment methods section.
Click on the More option (triple-dot) on the card the customer wishes to use as their default payment method, then click Set as default.
The changes will take effect immediately. All washes or recurring subscriptions will now charge the new default card.
